We have a new puppy who ran out towards the road. I called Eric and asked about fence install. Eric was fabulous. I highly recommend him. He checked in with us several times after installation to be sure all was well. He is kind, professional and clearly loves dogs. I rate him. 5+.
I can not say enough good things about Eric or this product. He is very responsive to texts and emails, scheduling was a breeze. They arrived on time for installation and worked with us to determine the best layout for our property to maximize the area our dog would have. Eric has followed up several times to check on our dog to ensure she is doing ok and enjoying her new found freedom.
I would definitely recommend Eric and his team for your dog fence. We have a golden retriever and an Akbash whom lived on the streets for more than a year prior to us getting her. We moved into a house on a very busy road and she escaped twice in our first three days running across the road. We had tried other fence companies that we had been told about but we were very skeptical, it was very corporate and didn't involve training, just an installation and turning the juice up. Eric is the complete opposite, he took time to meet the dogs prior to taking a tool out, he wanted details on each dog to ensure the proper collars, and knowing our situation was able to get us in over 20 days early which eliminated our stress with the escape artist we have. By the time Eric left the dogs understood the boundary and have been excellent each time we've taken them out to train them. We are animal lovers, we have everything from chickens to fish, and it always feels good when the person you choose is doing what they do because they love the animals and do not want to see them wind up hurt. Definitely go with Eric!

Eric is amazing! He taught our two puppies (4 mo.old) to respect those blue flags in only two tries! When he returned to check on them, they proved how effective his initial session had been! He knows dogs --and people-- and how to guide them clearly and sensitively when learning new skills. Our adorable mischief makers are all a-waggy when Eric pulls up the driveway. My husband and I are thrilled that he has made our yard safe for their playful spirits. Can't I award10 stars?
Great communications, and quality of work. He happily walks you through the entire system and answers any questions you might have. He even takes the dog out, and introduces the dog to the fence and teaches you everything you need to know when he's gone.
Eric did a fantastic job with the install and training my dogs. He did exactly what we agreed on and still checks in to see how my dogs are doing it only took about week for my dogs to learn there boundaries I would highly recommend him to anyone

From the first call our experience with Eric has been exceptional. He walked us through the process, after installation he trained not only our pups but had much patience with the humans as well. Fast forward a week later, he even came back to follow up on training ensuring the pups were on track. Through the week he was available to assist with questions. The product, experience, and customer service is top notch.

Eric did such an amazing job with being patient with our dogs and us.He is so relaxed and loving to the dogs. The training was gentle and precise and the dogs responded pretty darn good to his commands. It was really awesome to see the trainer on the ground loving the dogs and giving them positive reinforcement. Eric checked in with us weekly to see how the dogs were doing,which is really above what most would do I think.I highly recommend DOG GUARD OF EASTERN CT...you wont be disappointed. We did some shopping around before we went with Eric and Dog Guard and it was by far the best price and value. The price was a flat fee instead of so many variables like other places. He was very professional and awesome with our dogs, he took the time to train each and follow up multiple times until we felt comfortable letting the dogs free in the yard. Very happy with everything and the dogs are enjoying playing freely in the yard. Love it!!!

We had an old dog guard fence that we used for our previous dogs. Unfortunately, they are now gone but we do have a new puppy. We attempted to reach the person that had previously serviced our Dog Guard fencing several times but did not receive a reply. Fortunately, with a Google search, we found Eric. He quickly came out, made sure that everything was in working order and trained our cute and wild pup, Duchess, to the fence. He was really amazing with her. We are so happy about our fence is now working and our dog is safe. Thank you so much Eric. I do not hesitate to recommend him to others. We will certainly call him again if needed. 7/21/2020. Just wanted to update my review. I lost one collar and damaged another (of course right before I was leaving on vacation) and messaged Eric an he was right there to take care of my problem. I can't express enough how pleased I am with this company. 5 star service and communication from start to finish. Eric was very professional, personable and cared about our dogs. The fence guard went up quickly and neatly. He provided a full training for each dog and followed up daily to see how they were adapting. Once they were adapted (about 3 days) Eric did a very special thing and brought his own dog over to train our dogs to resist the temptation to cross the fence. Eric was incredible he came installed the system while our dogs were at boot camp. When they came back he came out trained the dogs to the fence. And they came back again with a dog distraction and the dogs did well. He is responsive and constantly following up. It is a way a business owner should be. We needed to know that our new golden retriever pup was going to be safe and stay in the yard. We have a large yard, set back from the road, surrounded by lots of woods with lots of wildlife. We didn’t want him to wonder off into trouble. But, we also wanted him to have as much freedom and space as possible to run and be happy and healthy. We consulted with Eric after finding his company online. His reviews were outstanding! He sent us an estimate and was at our home within a couple of days to meet our dog and walk our property with us. He educated us on the process of installment and training. We felt comfortable and trusted Eric from the start. He did not let us down. The installment was easy, with no mess or inconvenience and within a day or two he was back to work with our dog to show him the ropes. This has been the best experience we could’ve hoped for. Our dog learned very fast and loves to run and play freely in the yard. Eric checks in with us regularly to see if we have any questions. I would recommend Eric to anyone looking for this type of containment system. He is extremely knowledgeable not only in his product, but in animal training and behavior! I can’t write enough good things to say about Dog Guard of Eastern CT/RI and Eric’s professionalism. Our dog, Scarlett is a rescue and had a large fenced-in yard at our previous residence. She was was used to having free roam over the property to frolic and harass the squirrels and birds that ventured in, or near, “her” yard. She’s now a 18 months old and we moved to a new home in an area where we cannot have fences. I was skeptical of an electronic fence, but with 5 school age kids and both my wife and I working full time, we needed a solution that allowed our pup to have outside time. Eric installed the fence in no time and without hassle. He gave excellent training, mostly to the humans, guiding us on how to show our dog the boundaries and how to encourage her to steer clear. He checked in with us regularly and stopped by during the first couple weeks to provide higher level training as Scarlett graduated to being more aware and comfortable with the electronic fence. Within a few weeks, Scarlett roams her yard freely, she never steps outside the boundary, even when people, dogs, squirrels, or any other critters, are nearby. The electronic fence is worth every penny for the safety and security of our family dog. If you’re considering having one installed, don’t hesitate to get a hold of Eric, he’ll explain every step and answer all of your questions.
Dog Guard is amazing and I am convinced that Eric helped save our dogs’ lives. Our puppy is very adventurous and had convinced our older dog to wander off the property. After watching as one of them almost got hit by a car we started researching electric fences. Eric was the most genuine, honest person that we encountered during this exhausting search and he has lived up to everything that he advertises. We have a very large property and Eric set everything up within a matter of a day or two and now the dogs can roam freely without risk of being hurt. My husband was very skeptical but when he met Eric in person, he saw the same things I saw. Eric is businessman but he puts people and animals first. We have emailed Eric a few times since he installed the electric fence and every one of our silly questions is met with a very courteous and kind response. Eric addressed all of our concerns and put our stress at ease for our pup. He was very thorough about the nuts and bolts of the installation and most importantly, he was patient with us as we were trained on how to introduce our Scarlett to the fence. We followed his training and guidance and our doggie was right on target with learning the perimeter. He checks in with us and is passionate about keeping our pup safe. Even little details like Nor’easter winds taking a flag - Eric was right over to bring us a replacement. Our sweet Scarlet loves the freedom and ability to patrol her yard and she hasn’t breached. I would like to thank Eric for the service he provides. I was looking to contain my Labs. They had chased the deer on the property and made it to a major road. Don’t want to think about what might have happened. We had the Dog Guard installed and within 4 days the pups are trained. They understand the system and respect it. They love their freedom back and we like having them roam the property.

Eric came to our house to meet our pup and give us some info and by the end of our visit I knew he was the guy we wanted to train our dog and install our fence. He is incredibly knowledgable and very talented at what he does. We have a Mountain Cur rescue whose nose will take her anywhere so we were very anxious the fence wouldn't work. When I first looked into fencing for my new rescue dog, I was skeptical about whether or not this type of system was reliable. Then I talked with some neighbors that had had the Dog Guard system installed for their two dogs several years ago, and they were very happy with it. That convinced me to call Eric. He gave me a price that was reasonable, and scheduled us quickly. Eric installed the system and gave Ollie his initial training (while I watched), in the course of 1/2 a day. He clearly explained what I should do from that point on, to continue the training (which was easy). If that was all Eric did, I would have given him 4 stars. What makes this exceptional is the fact that he has kept checking in with us on how Ollie is doing. He even brought his own dog over, along with a variety of squeaky toys, and walked along the road with them to see if Ollie would jump the “fence”. But his training has paid off, and he stays on the property. I love to see how happy Ollie is, running all over the property playing fetch with us! I also love the fact that we didn’t have to get an expensive wood fence on our uneven property- which would have looked ugly and obstructed our view. THIS IS PERFECT!

Eric is fantastic. He is so thorough and conscientious in his work, even to the point of bringing his own dog over as a distraction to test my dog’s training. He followed up by text many times to see how we were doing. He reassured me about lightning strikes with his statistics about the very few times he’s had to replace a surge protector. All in all, a pleasant experience!
We live on a very busy road in Noank. After our preliminary discussions with Eric about his DogGuard product we were very confident and comfortable with this product and his expertise. After his installation Eric made numerous follow up calls and visit to see how our Bailey was doing with the out of sight fence. What a fantastic feeling it is to know we were never left out in the cold after the installation. It is a great product and he is an absolute knowledgeable professional. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Eric was great, he was very accommodating and easy going about the placement of the fence. He installed and went over everything with us. Our dog is very nervous around strangers especially men and Eric was very patient and good with her. It didn’t take long for her to catch on. It is so nice to have her be able to enjoy our yard with us and not have to worry. Definitely worth every penny!
We adopted Cody an 8 month old chocolate lab a year ago. We soon found out he was not going to stay in the yard like our other labs. We decided that an electric fence was the way to go. My family has been dealing with Eric Orkney from Dog Guard for years. He is professional, knowledgeable, friendly and, best of all, honest! I started out using his competitor and had a miserable time. Dog Guard is more reliable and less expensive. Just adding a quick note to this - 9 months later a landscaper accidentally broke our fence. (I forgot to tell him about it.) I called Eric and within 2 days he was out, found the break, fixed the break and we were back up and running!! Excellent service! Then, the bill came. It was fabulous! The cost was extremely reasonable and it was a PayPal bill. All I had to do was log in to PayPal and transfer the funds! Fast and simple!

Ryan and I can’t thank Eric and his team at Dog Guard of ECT/RI enough. We were initially reticent to use an electronic fence, unsure that it wasn’t harmful to Jackson in anyway. Jackson’s history of taking off and running for miles while we frantically searched for him made it difficult to enjoy having him outside with us, unless he was tied to a lead line. Eric and his team were so compassionate with all of us. The installation was seamless and the training helped to relay any fears we had. The follow up was outstanding and they made sure we were comfortable and happy with the service. Its been the best investment we ever made. Can't say enough about our experience with Dog Guard! The cost was competitive and Eric was extremely easy to work with. He provided the flexibility we needed to fit this in to our busy schedules. His experience is unparalleled. He clearly loves animals, and our dog responded very well to his approach. Within two weeks our 7-year old dog was accustomed to the invisible barrier. I have heard how other companies' approaches to the training leaves dogs fearful of their yards. Eric's approach was compassionate and gradual, which left our dog happy and comfortable in our yard. He has continued to check in with us to ensure that we are progressing, and he is willing to come back if necessary. Don't use another company for your underground fence!

I was impressed with Dog Guard of ECT/RI from the first interaction to the last. My first interaction was a great one when I called on a Saturday night and the phone was answered-awesome I know!! Would you believe that they came the very next day to give me an estimate. Upon meeting Eric and Lara I was instantly impressed and felt like I wanted to do business with them. I was also shocked at how quickly Emily took to both of them. I was not expecting that because she is normally apprehensive of strangers and very protective or her yard. Then came installation day-they were extremely flexible in working around my schedule and for the entire installation had smiles on their faces-even while they were being tailed by my 4 tear old for the duration-that takes patience for sure, she asks a lot of questions. My next great experience was this-I made a mistake and asked for the wrong type of fence structure not fully understanding how two zones would work-once I realized it I told them and they fixed it. This does not sound like a lot but the installation is hard work and it caused them about an extra hour of installation because by the time I realized my mistake they were almost done with the installation so they adjusted it to suit my needs. They fixed it without a single complaint and with reassurance that it was not a problem at all and they wanted me to get exactly what I wanted for Emily. Next came training-they train your dog initially after the installation AND they come back several days later to ‘test’ her and make sure she is good with the fence. Eric also followed up with me several times before and after that to see how Emily was doing with her new fence. I loved the price and I cannot speak highly enough about Eric and Lara and their hard work, dedication, customer service and love of animals. If you are looking for an invisible fence, don’t look anywhere else!

After pricing out a few systems in my area I came across Dog guard of eastern ct/ri. I have two large powerful dogs and had concern with them leaving the property as they get "excited" at other dogs walking by. My husband and I truly couldn’t recommend Eric + Dog Guard enough- best decision we made for our yellow lab, Scout! Eric was so friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. With Eric’s training and guidance, Scout was using the system within days! She loves being able to spend so much time outside. The entire process was seamless- we couldn’t be happier!
My husband and I were unsure of how well our German Shepherd would do on an electric fence. We have a fairly big yard and wanted him to be able to roam and play as much as he good. Eric came over and met us and Thor and explained to us in detail what he does and how he would help train Thor with the fence. Eric installed the fence a few days later, and since then we can’t get Thor to stay in the house! Behind our house is woods filled with deer and turkey and Thor loves to just sit there and watch them, he doesn’t even try to cross no matter what he sees. We couldn’t be happier with our fence and Thor seems to love it just as much as us! We would recommend Dog Guard to anyone who is even thinking about an electric fence, it changed our house dynamic for the best!
Both my husband and I were very skeptical about getting an electronic fence for our dogs. One reason is we have a lot of land, and we also didn’t think it would contain Cocoa and Mocha in our yard. (Cocoa is a shepard mix, Mocha is a pit lab mix.) Now I am here to tell you it’s the best thing we have ever done for them!!!! Eric and Lara are both so good with dogs and they did wonderful training with us as well. The dogs have a huge area to run around and can go outside now and be safe. I don’t have to worry about them running off deep into the woods. I was very happy with the price that Eric gave me. I got a quote from a competitor prior to Dog Guard and it was almost 3x as much! That company also refused to go into the woods because of the amount of rock/ledge and quoted only for the grassline perimeter. I am telling you if you have a dog, give them a call. When I adopted my new dog Roxy I wanted to give her the happiest life possible. Especially, since it was pretty clear she wasn’t cared for very well before coming to my home. Although very sweet with most people, she is a little shy and timid towards men. I was a little apprehensive about Eric even meeting Roxy during the consultation, let alone possibly training her. As suspected, she tried to avoid him initially and ran back to me. Eric immediately asked if he could take her outside for a walk. I was like, ssssure. He picked up her slip lead, remarkably was able to call her over to the door and draped it over her head. She payed very little attention to him as he started walking her around the yard and giving her basic obedience commands! I was shocked. I knew then that I wasn’t going to be looking for anyone else to work with my Roxy. After the installation, training went very smoothly. Even for a stubborn Rottweiler, she was already avoiding the boundary flags after about 15 minutes! She has a ton of energy and loves to chase everything; people on bikes, skateboards, rabbits, squirrels, dogs, you name it! Eric came back several times to train Roxy even with some stuffed animal on a bamboo stick he was parading around. She still wouldn’t go near the yellow flags. Dog Guard of Eastern CT/RI ended up being the perfect solution for us. Eric was there to take my phone calls for any questions and he even gave me free training tips to help Roxy adjust to her new life and new family!

Having Dog Guard of Eastern CT/RI install an underground fence for my Basset Hound was a great experience from start to finish. Eric was a pleasure to work with. He clearly explained everything I needed to know about the product, was very flexible when working around my schedule, and gave us great pricing when compared to other fencing companies (discount for having a rescue dog). He arrived exactly on time on the day of installation (pet peeve: contractors who say they're going to be at my house at a certain time, then don't show up till an hour or so later), completed the installation in a couple hours in the morning, then spent the next hour or so introducing Lucy to the fence. She learned her boundaries very quickly (within a week), after which Eric returned with his own dog for distraction training. (Lucy passed with flying colors!) After that, he followed up several times to make sure everything was going well. All in all, the fence has been a great investment, allowing me to let Lucy out without having to be at the end of a 30' tether and giving me peace of mind while she's out exploring her yard. Eric is amazing. And I don't use that word lightly. He not only knows the product but he knows dogs. When he met our Bandit he got right down on his level and really got him comfortable with him. He completed the instill in a timely manner. We have dense weedy areas and he cut right thought them like it was no big deal. As part of the deal Eric works with you and your dog on how to train them not to run though the fence. Because even though it will shock them, you really don't want to dog to get to that point. He then came back with his dog to make sure Bandit didn't run after a strange dog. It's so wonderful to really have the peace of mind that our Bandit is safe in our yard. We can't thank Eric enough and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to keep their furry friends safe.
I got a recomendation for Eric through a family member and I had the fence installed once my dog was old enough for it. Eric was very professional and had the fence installed by the time I got home from work. My dog has responded very well to it and I can even use the collar at my family members house. The fence has been very well worth it and I would recommend Eric to anyone interested in getting a fence for their dog.
This is a great "product" through and through, and by product I mean the whole package. The invisible fence itself works fantastic. The install was done in a few hours and was pretty seamless. As soon as the install is done, Eric brings the dog out and does the first training with them right there. Everything is explained and absolutely ANY questions you have day or night Eric answers. Eric even brought his dog Chewbacca back to my house to see if Charli would penetrate the fence (which she didn’t). He is great at what he does and my dog loves him. And the guy trained tigers! Once again...great product and great customer service. My only regret is that we didn't install this earlier for my dog. By far one of the best investments we ever made.

Dog Guard has been a great experience from the start! We have a Belgian Malinous and were a bit worried the system wouldn’t keep her in but so far it’s a success! Eric worked through all types of terrain to get the biggest and best space for her. He keeps in contact with us and is so easy to get in touch with if we need him. My electric underground dog fence was broken and I had a deadline during which it had to be repaired. With seven acres of fenced paddocks, fields and woods, I didn't think I'd need a fence for Tug the Whippet. Well, I was wrong; he wanted to play with all of the neighborhood dogs when they walked by every night and morning. Even though it's a dead-end road, cars still go by often enough for me to worry. We had the Dog Guard fence installed about 6 weeks ago for our 9 month old Rottweiler Kennedy, honestly I was a bit hesitant about getting the fence since I had such a horrible experience with the prior invisible fence we had. Within about a week I felt extremely different about the fence, the fence was giving Kennedy and I FREEDOM and allowing him to get out his puppy energy! After the distraction training with Eric, Kennedy was ready to go on his own (I still would check on him every 15-30 minutes or when someone would walk by to make sure the fence was working- and it was!). After another successful week on the fence I grew even more comfortable and could go longer without checking on Kennedy. Between the Dog Guard fence and Eric's training our lives have changed, Kennedy can play outside while I get things done inside the house (something I had to juggle with before Dog Guard) ...I would HIGHLY recommend Eric and the Dog Guard fence!!!

We had Eric install a Dog Guard system and train our German Shepherd. He's a small business so we worked with him directly for the whole job, which I prefer (the other guys send different people for different parts, and you never meet them ahead of time...). He was always on time, always accommodated my schedule when setting up appointments, and he's a good guy to work with. He has a lot of experience training animals and really excels at it (see his website- pretty cool). Training a dog to stay within the boundaries takes compassion and firmness, and it has to be done right else the dog may either ignore the fence or never leave on the porch... He did it right, and now our Shepherd has no interest in leaving the yard, but loves being out with us, chasing frisbees and running free. Great job Eric and thank you!

I've had cats my whole life, and my husband joined me in my fondness for felines shortly after we were married 2 1/2 years ago. We bought a house on over 2.5 acres in southeastern Connecticut, so we decided to expand our family and become dog parents as well. Enter Nikita, our adopted German Shepherd. Nikita is a very sweet-natured pup with people and cats alike. However, as we've never been parents to a dog before, we wanted to understand training tactics and get him started as early as possible while he's still young. In addition, we wanted some kind of border/fence so Nikita wouldn't become a "flight risk." Fencing him in a confined area would be unfair as we have so much space for him to run around, but we live on a road that seems to be a major thruway to and from the local area casinos. So while our road is not "busy" per se, people definitely drive by over the speed limit. Being very new to the area, we were unsure of where to turn. A neighbor of ours confidently recommended Dog Guard. He was right! Eric and Lara truly have compassion for the animals they train. When they came to train it felt like a personal experience. The price was also right for our needs. Nikita has responded very well to his training, and my husband and I are much more confident in our dog parenting abilities!
